Halloween 2011

So its Halloween…If there is any holiday that Paleo eaters could care less about, it’s Halloween, with all it’s sugary, artificial goodness. Just to have a little fun, I’m going to mention the top 5 Halloween candies of 2011 and go over their ingredients.

1- REESE’S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS

Milk Chocolate (Milk Chocolate contains Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Chocolate, Nonfat Milk, Milk Fat, Lactose, and Soya Lecithin and PGPR (as Emulsifiers), Peanuts, Sugar, Dextrose, Salt, and TBHQ and Citric Acid (to Preserve Freshness)

2- SNICKER’S

Snickers ingredients are: milk chocolate (sugar, cocoa butter, chocolate, skimmed milk, lactose, milkfat, soy lecithin, artificial flavor), peanuts, corn syrup, sugar, skimmed milk, butter, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, lactose (a milk product), salt, egg whites and artificial flavor.

3- M&M’S

Milk Chocolate (Sugar, Chocolate, Cocoa Butter, Skim Milk, Milkfat, Lactose, Soy Lecithin, Salt, Artificial Flavors), Sugar, Cornstarch, Less than 1% – Corn Syrup, Gum Acacia, Coloring (Includes Red 40 Lake, Yellow 6, Yellow 5, Blue 2 Lake, Red 40, Blue 1, Blue 2, Yellow 5 Lake, Yellow 6 Lake), Dextrin.

4- POP ROCKS

Sugar, Lactose (Milk Sugar), Corn Syrup, Artificial Flavor, Artificial Color (Red No. 3), Processed with Carbon Dioxide.

5- KIT KAT

MILK CHOCOLATE (SUGAR, MODIFIED MILK INGREDIENTS, COCOA BUTTER, UNSWEETENED CHOCOLATE, LACTOSE, SOYA LECITHIN, POLYGLYCEROL POLYRICINOLEATE, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOUR), WHEAT FLOUR, SUGAR, HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN OIL OR MODIFIED PALM OIL, UNSWEETENED CHOCOLATE, SODIUM BICARBONATE, SOYA LECITHIN, YEAST, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOUR.

  2. Reese’s are my downfall! :( I can be so disciplined, but when they pop up in the office candy jar, it’s all over.
